When your friend gives you a jelly roll of fabric you make a charity quilt. I often think of the book "When You Give A Mouse A Cookie" when someone gives me a fabric gift.
The pattern uses 2.5 inch strips cut to various dark and light fabric lengths to form this pattern, that has a dark side and a light side. When the blocks are attached it makes a zigzag.
The secondary design made by the joining of the blocks is my favorite. Maybe I'll make another of this pattern but won't use the large scale prints and choose the light / dark to make the whole quilt define the zigzag.
This quilt is a large lap top size and will be given to Council on Aging for one of the seniors they visit during this holiday season.
Also finished knitting this Readers Shawl for my dear friend Audree. Audree loves a good book and this shawl with pockets (for tissues when she reads the sad parts) will keep her warm and snuggly.
I made "lunch mats" as gifts for my quilting friends this year. They are larger than a mug rug but smaller than a place mat. These mats are just the correct size to take to quilting and spread out on the table to enjoy your sandwich at quilting! Of course, they had hexagons!
I haven't forgotten my English Paper piecing but finishing my Christmas gift projects and charity quilt has stolen time from those projects. So now I'm back to my EPP! Yeh!
