Charity Quilts

Having so much fun working on Charity Quilts!  I purchased the Creative Grids Pineapple ruler and have made two quilts, one with 30's fabric and another with blue fabrics.

This quilt will be donated to Casa Teresa, a home for unwed mothers.  Love the teddy bear back!  Just too cute.

This quilt is made with the same ruler. Amazing right?  Love this pattern!  It will be a Prayer Quilt for a friends mother.  Already have red strips cut for a red and white quilt.

Love Scrappy Quilts

I love scrappy quilts and hexagons!  So a combination of the two is just grand!  Nancy is a very special retired lady who has dedicated her life to education!  She just needed a special quilt.

Still working on my Grandma Maggie's hexagon flower garden and my Lucy Boston Patchwork of crosses!  Just because I didn't have enough projects going I started this table topper using 3/4" hexagons!
With some embroidered daisy flowers!

Hexagon Pumpkin

Just a fun pumpkin rug mug to begin the season.  Fun small project that was quickly done.  I love polka dots, but I should have chosen a different fabric for the center of the pumpkin.  The print is too large, oh well,  I'll just have to make another one!

Lucy Boston Patchwork of Crosses #7

This is my forever quilt.... Just completed block number 7 of my Lucy Boston Patchwork of Crosses!

I love to fussy cut fabrics for the centers!  Each of the blocks is so different and I will look long and hard for the fabric that will join the blocks together.  But for now, there is no rush....this is number 7 of the 20 blocks I am making!  Goodness there are a lot more to go.

Until next time I will be working on my Grandma Maggie Flower Garden quilt.

Dilly Flower Hexagon Table Topper

Just completed this Patriotic Dilly Flower table topper!  Whew, just in time for the July 4th Celebration! Cute little Gnome makes me smile!

The hexagon pedals were first stitched to the background fabric pieces.  Loved using a variety of fabrics.

Connecting the seven connected Dilly Flowers together made this topper.  The most difficult part was doing the binding!  Goodness those inward points were a challenge.  White centered hexagon do not do well with white background.  So, I purchased flag buttons at Hobby Lobby and attached them to the center.  Much better!

This project is the creation of Elise Baek https://www.elisebaek.com The templates and hexie papers were a Mother's Day gift from daughter Linda!
This was an amazing project!  Loving the table topper!

Lucy Boston #6

The fabric I used for the center of this Lucy Boston Patchwork of Crosses was perfect!  The combination of blue and gold made the center amazing.  I love "fussy cutting" the elongated one inch hexagons!

The elongated hexagons are sometimes called Honeycombs.  Every piece of fabric presents a new way to "fussy cut".  I have the feeling that this quilt will be my Forever Quilt.

Lucy Boston Block #5

Block # 5 of my Lucy Boston Patchwork of Crosses is complete!

I love the center !  The fussy cut on the center elongated hexagons turned out great.  This fabric was just perfect.  I had to choose the pink or a lavender for the corners.  My husband decided the pink was a better fit so that's what was chosen.   Had a bit of difficulty with some of the points, but when the papers are removed and quilting is completed,  I feel it will be fine.

W.I.P. (Work In Progress)

My first quilt English Paper Piecing Quilt.  Pattern (first made in the 1930's) is called Grandmother's Flower Garden, made in all 30's fabrics.  It will be a while before it is finished.  Heard several quilters call EPP "Slow Sewing"!  It is slow, since it's all hand sewn.

I decided that this quilt will be called "Grandma Maggie's Flower Garden" after my grandma who loved flowers and always saved seeds!  I know she would love this quilt.

Lap Quilt for Orange County Council of Aging

Just finished this small lap quilt for a senior.  The yellow and blue colors are pleasant.  Love the blue flowers with the green borders, reminds me of a garden. The dark green corner stones add variety.

The size of the quilt will serve as a lap quilt for a wheel chair bound senior.   Was easily done with 2.5" strips that were donated by Kaufman Fabric Company to our church quilt group.  Pray that this quilt brings joy to someone.

Special Retirement Gift

 Retirement Quilt for Marge

Marge, a nurse in my husband's doctors office, will retire in February!  She has served so many patients with kindness and care.  My husband and I thought she needed a special gift to say thanks for her over 30 years at this one office.  Marge was so surprised and thankful. Hope she has many happy days ahead.

Lucy Boston Patchwork of Crosses

Block number 4 of my Lucy Boston Patchwork of Crosses quilt.

I love how the fussy cutting makes the center stand out.  I feel good about selecting the plaid fabric for the corners. The beige adds just enough texture to give interest.   This block makes me smile.

Back to the Hexagon Grandmothers Flower Garden while I search for the fabric for number 5 of the Lucy Boston Patchwork of Crosses!  Love EPP!
