Baby Quilt and Matching Tote

During this stay at home time with COVID-19, I just keep sewing.   Today I finished the binding on the "Ducky" quilt and matching tote that will be donated to Casa Teresa.

I think that the Ducky fabric is just sooooo cute.  Then every mom needs a tote!  I used the left over fabric squares from the Mystery Quilt and a bit of the focus fabric and made the matching tote.

My friend Tina quilted it with her long arm.  The duck motif is perfect!  Thanks Tina!

National Health Crisis - Quilting Cancelled

Our church quilting group meeting was cancelled today, Coronavirus.  We are all no longer young adults and our group meetings were cancelled until after Easter. 

So at home, I dug out a UFO that was begun with a Jelly Roll I purchased at Road to California a couple of years ago.   Finished the top for a Prayer Quilt.

Then took the scraps and made a table topper with the left overs.  Cut all the squares into 2.5" and used Missour Star Quilt Company idea for Charms on Point and made a new topper. 

Tomorrow is another stay at home day SO I think I'll free motion quilt the new topper.

Mystery Quilt Top Completed

If you like bright and loud, you will love this quilt!    The cheddar and the orange make the blue dazzle.  You will notice that this quilt also contains polka dots, love those polka dots! 

 Hopefully it will brighten a special persons day and make them smile. 

Now onto the machine quilting and binding of the quilt.

Mystery Quilt

I adore mysteries!  My church quilt group decided to do a Mystery Quilt using donated fabric.  The quilts when completed will be donated to an organization that houses adults with mental challenges.

I've never made a yellow, blue and orange quilt. Using rulers that I already had was a bonus, really dislike having to buy additional rulers.  The Easy Angle and Tri Rec rulers made cutting easy.  But there are a bunch of pieces!  Eighty turquoise and white blocks and 184 of the blue and white four patches. These are the blocks for steps one and step two that need to be assembled.  Love scrappy quilts and this one will be scrappy.  Here's the reveal of the two blocks.

Could not wait - only have two blocks together, one of each.  Will be interesting when all twelve blocks are completed and the assembly begins.

Happy Birthday Fiona

I love making fun play activites for the girls!  When I heard that Fiona was receiving Barbie Dolls for Christmas, I just had to find and make something that would enhance her gift.

Answer:  A Camping Tent with Sleeping Bags!  Couldn't be more perfect.

The tent has a window in the rear of the tent made with a piece of  acrylic !  Sleeping bags have pillows (which might get lost on a camping adventure).  A real joy to make!

Fiona looks pleased with the tent so this warms my heart for this girl who just turned 6!  Love you Fiona!

Tiny Christmas Blocks

I've become a fan of tiny pieces! 

Just finished this table topper 9" x 28" with the pieces beginning

 at 1".  Doesn't use a large quantity of fabric but piecing and cutting needs to be precise!

Saw the pattern on Pinterest and with some investigation found the pattern.

So I sent the dollars and downloaded the pattern (is available in a printed snail mail form too).  

It's actually a small ( 20 inches square) quilt.

I plan to  make the quilt for next Christmas, probably should start in July.

This is the quilt of the future!  Just thought it was so darn cute

 I had to make it.

Veteran's Quilt Donation

I am grateful for the service of military veterans. These two quilts will be donated to the Long Beach Veteran's Hospital.  This is part of my church quilt group annual donation. 

Not saying that I have a whole bunch of patriot fabric but all the fabric came from my fabric stash.  Goodness!  

Two and a half inch strips make an attractive combination.  This is a great quilt pattern that I will use over and over with other great fabric combinations.  I quilted this quilt with the 3's and E's pattern.

The star blocks ( a bit more difficult to cut and pieces ) is a great block to show case a fussy cut center block.  Loops and stars were used to the quilt a majority of this quilt.  I am not happy with the red border of the quilt.   As I continue to learn, mostly by mistakes, I know the I should have used red thread to quilt the big loops.  Even with all the practice on paper and other fabric the loops just aren't consistent.  Lesson Learned.
